Garbage

Ad Hoc Garbage commitee

Les Miller Needs to hear from you today!

OSHNA encourages its members to get involved in city and county government, to express their opinions, and to petition their elected officials.  As part of this effort, we pass on non-partisan messages such as this one where it can affect our members and neighbors.  This request for action is from Pat Kemp, long-time Old Seminole Heights resident and founding member of the association.

Storm Debris Management

The City of Tampa Department of Solid Waste & Environmental Program Management is providing the following debris disposal options for City of Tampa residents in response to the storm on March 31, 2011.

Big Blue Bombshell - UPDATE

The OSHNA Board would like to thank the residents of Old Seminole Heights for your combined efforts to keep our alley trash service.  The OSHNA Board and residents working "hand in hand" have persuaded the city to maintain the present level of service for now.

OSHNA's Land Use Committee Chair, Kacy Curry, received the below email:

Big Blue Bombshell

A number of Old Seminole Heights residents came home to a surprise last week--big blue trash cans parked in their driveways.  Tampa's Solid Waste department delivered the large cans as part of a modernization of service.  A robotic arm on new trucks will lift the can and dump it.  The cans also came with new pickup dates; your can will be emptied Monday and Thursday.  The bombshell, for some OSH residents, was that alley service would be discontinued.

If your home is serviced by an alley, the odds are good that your gates, trash can area, and pathways are all oriented to the rear of the home. Some homes do not even have a front gate and will be forced to store their cans in the front yard until they can build one.
