Friends of Lake Roberta Picnic

Early this year, OSHNA's Lake Roberta committee received a $6,000 grant to do cleanup work at the lake. Part of that work involved installing a "water goat" to "eat" the trash that flows into Lake Roberta from the Nebraska avenue side. This device was installed in January and has been earning its keep since then. One of the requirements for the grant was for OSHNA to hold two educational events. On May 8th, the committee held the first of these events as a "Weed and Feed".

Each stage of the plan is managed by the committee. It works by OSHNA paying for things like the water goat and then submitting them back for reimbursement through the grant.
A Goat in Lake Roberta?
Anyone who has walked, ran, or even driven around Lake Roberta recently has noticed an exotic looking string of green orbs attached to the west end of the bank surrounding the drain. This isn't a device meant to catch fish, turtles, or even anyone's attention. The device known as a Water Goat (details here ), was recently installed with funding from a grant that was requested from and approved by the Tampa Bay Estuary Association.
