Presentation of OSHNA bylaws suggested revisions
NOTE: Deadline for making comments was February 28, 2010
As you may recall, in October of 2008, OSHNA presented some extensive suggested changes to the bylaws. Those suggestions were not approved so the Bylaws Committee went back to work. The version presented here has fewer changes than the last one and we think they are an improvement.
After February 28, the Bylaws Committee reviewed the proposed changes again in light of the comments that had been received on the web site. The changes made in response to the comments are in blue.
Why revise them?
It has been 13 years since the bylaws were last reviewed and they need to be updated.
How has this been done so far?
- The Bylaws Committee took the suggested revisions from last year as well as suggestions from members.
- All of these were looked at line by line, considered, and discussed until the committee came to a consensus.
What was changed?
There are dozens of changes, some minor to make meaning clearer, and some major. For instance, the section on voting was extensively revised.
How do you read the suggested changes?
You will find two columns: the current bylaws are on the left and the suggested changes are on the right. The text in boxes explains some of the changes. Amendments made in response to comments on the web site are in blue.
What you should to do:
- Review the proposed changes, the ones in blue in particular.
- Be ready to vote on them at a future general membership meeting.
