Celebrate Hispanic Days in County Center
Hillsborough County will celebrate its Hispanic employees and communities with three days of art, culture and recognition. The Hispanic Days celebration will be Sept. 21 – 23 at County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd., in downtown Tampa. All events and ceremonies during Hispanic Days are free and open to the public.

An art exhibit in the lobby of County Center will showcase the work of artists from different countries, including Sarita Pacinne, a Colombian artist featured at the weekly Ybor City Saturday Market. In addition, Carlos Leal will display his “Flor de la Paz Nacional” (National Flower of Peace) and explain his concept of promoting peace through art. This art exhibit will be featured all day and various other artists will also participate.
An awards ceremony to recognize the Hillsborough County 2010 Hispanic Man and Woman of the Year will be held in the 26th Floor of County Center at 5:30 p.m. The recipients are Hillsborough County employees chosen by a selection committee made up of their peers. This awards ceremony is open to the public and refreshments will be provided.
Wed., Sept. 22
The Board of County Commissioners will present the E.J. Salcines Lifetime Leadership Award to Chief Judge Dennis Alvarez, retired. He was selected for this honor by the Hillsborough County Hispanic Heritage Committee. The award will be presented during the Regular Meeting of the Board of County Commissioners in the Second Floor of County Center at 9 a.m.

Alfredo Ricardo will give a musical performance in the lobby of County Center, noon – 1 p.m.
