CVS to Quit Seminole Heights?

OSHNA received a polite email from Armstrong Development regarding CVS.  According to Greg Webb, while Armstrong is still interested in developing that corner for CVS, CVS corporate believes they gave enough concessions and took the negative reaction of City staff to heart.  Armstrong Development has been told by CVS to cease work on the project.  Mr Webb wanted everyone to know that CVS appreciated the support of the residents.  If City staff would support re-opening the PD, Armstrong Development believes that CVS might consider a second attempt.

I would like to thank all of the residents that went down to city council, wrote letters, made phone calls, and participated in the effort in any way.  Regardless of what your position was on CVS, your involvement in the process is a service to your community. OSHNA is proud to have so many concerned neighbors and will continue to support your efforts to redevelop our commercial corridors.

[UPDATED]

A small group of neighbors are attempting to shrink the chasm between City staff and CVS.  They are gathering this week in an attempt to change the site plan in ways that would preserve CVS's goals while coming closer to what City staff wanted.  This effort may be what Mr Webb was refering when he said CVS may consider a second attempt.  However, the city is limited (but not entirely prohibited) in when it can accept a second PD rezoning request from a petitioner. The new site plan will have find a way to give the city that freedom.

Regardless of the outcome, OSHNA's Land Use committee is reviewing the comments received from neighbors and there will likely be some sort of additional outreach to the residents of Old Seminole Heights to help answer questions and inform the organization of what its members think.
