CVS went before City Council last night. Council was presented a report. Click here to read the report. The City found the request inconsistent with several sections of the comprehensive plan and with the goals of the neighborhood (Form Based Zoning).
CVS has also published the landscaping plan for their proposed store on Sligh and Nebraska. Click here to view the plan.
Note that the store is still set back from the sidewalk and surrounded by parking, although less in this version than in the previous. Form Based Zoning would require the building be placed on the sidewalk to make it more pedestrian friendly. However, codes written to require a minimum amount of queueing space for drive-thru windows often conflict with a sidewalk-oriented building. Starbucks had this same issue.
OSHNA urges all residents to become involved in this process and provide their opinions to CVS, the City of Tampa, and to our Land Use committee.
