Holiday Crime Awareness

TPD's Neighborhood Watch program sent out a little advice today on Holiday crime awareness:
 
Unfortunately, thieves know we are out buying gifts for our families.  In today's report you'll notice a house was broken into and Christmas gifts were taken. 
 

• Avoid displaying gifts where they can be easily seen. 
• When purchasing new items, document the model & serial numbers immediately.
• Please do not put empty boxes in the curb side garbage advertising your new "toys", especially those large flat screen TV boxes.  
• When going out and about shopping, take a partner and park in well lit parking lots.  Instead of placing shopping bags in the passenger compartment of your vehicle, place the items in your trunk. 
• Ask your friends and neighbors to be extra diligent and report suspicious behavior & noises immediately. 
• Pay attention to your surroundings & be safe :)
