"Water Goat" Installation Scheduled 1/13/2010

The “Save Lake Roberta” Committee of OSHNA, applied for and received funding, via a grant provided by the Tampa Bay Estuary program, for on-going improvements for the lake.
The FIRST STEP, scheduled for Wednesday, January 13th, 2010 at 9:00 am will be the installation of a “WATERGOATtm System” in Lake Roberta to aid in the collection of trash as a result of storm water runoff, primarily from Nebraska Avenue, and the surrounding streets.
The WATERGOATtm system which is strategically placed to collect floating debris from trash prone areas, can withstand mild to heavy velocity from storm water outfall pipes. It is designed to raise and lower with varying water levels.
Additional areas funded by the grant from The Tampa Bay Estuary Program include:
- Spraying for invasive non-native plants
- Children’s educational event at Lake Roberta
- Planting of native aquatic and dry-land plants to improve the health of the lake and surrounding areas
- Educational Signage
