Bulletin Number: TPD Case # 10-112469
Date: March 3, 2010
On 2-25-10, at approximately 1100 hours, a resident in the 1200 Blk of E. Commanche Ave. placed several pieces of mail inside of her mailbox, which is attached to her residence. The resident then went back inside of her house and shortly after heard her doorbell ringing. By the time she opened the door, she observed an unknown black male leaving her driveway riding a small BMX style bicycle, in poor condition. The resident could not recall a color. She called out for him to stop and he continued to ride away, traveling W/B on E. Commanche and then North on N. 11th St. She immediately checked her mailbox and discovered that the items were no longer there.
A similar incident occurred on 3-01-10, in the area of Park Circle, where an unknown type of vehicle was following a mail truck and the driver of the truck observed someone exit the car, run up to a residence and remove the mail. The vehicle then left the area. This incident was not reported to the police at that time and no further details are available.
If anyone comes into contact with any suspicious individuals or activity, please notify Detective Mike Victor at 813-276-3551.
The USPS Postal Inspector has been contacted and is working with Detective Victor.
