The OSHNA Bylaws committee spent two years working on suggested improvements to OSHNA's bylaws. OSHNA's current bylaws allow for changes to be initiated by either the Board of Directors (through the committee) or from the floor by a member. In either case, there is a vote by the presiding body, Board of Directors or the Membership depending on where the proposal originates. At the following General Membership meeting, the proposed bylaws are published to the membership for their consideration. These two step are now completed for this set of proposed bylaws. The final step is a vote by the General Membership at the next meeting on July 27th.
The OSHNA Board of Directors has chosen to allow for article by article voting. There are 12 articles in our bylaws. There are changes to each of them. Members will be permitted an opportunity to speak on each article prior to the vote. If you have not done so, please review the changes prior to the meeting. An informed membership will ensure a good outcome for the association; we appreciate your participation in this important process.
NOTE: The deadline for commenting was February 28, 2010. -- Comments are now "read only".
How to read the notation:
Items in the left-hand column are the current bylaws. Items in the right-hand column are individual changes to some of the current bylaws, but not all. If you read the text with the gray background, which may move back and forth from current to proposed columns, you will be reading what the final bylaws would be should the membership vote in favor of all changes. Text with a white background is changed with the replacement to its right. The yellow text are notes from the bylaws committee and will not be present in the final copy.
Text in blue has been added since the original posting, either as a result of committee review or in response to comments.
