The library committee has been formally disbanded by the OSHNA Board. The committee served our community diligently for many years and has gone on to create, in partnership with South and Southeast Seminole Heights, the Friends of the Seminole Heights Library group. This group is formally recognized by the county library system. It will perform all the functions of the previous library committee but do so with representation from all three Seminole Heights neighborhoods.
Friends of the Seminole Heights Library (FOL)
The Seminole Heights Library has a ‘Friends’ group, a chapter of the Friends of the Library or Tampa-Hillsborough, Inc. The mission of the Seminole Heights Friends is to maintain an association of persons interested in the welfare of the Seminole Heights Library and to promote and enhance library services and facilities. Through this group assistance to the library staff is provided by directly working in a support capacity in the library facility, through promoting knowledge of the functions, resources, services, and needs of the library, and to support the library through ongoing fundraising activities. Development of a bookstore within the Seminole Heights Library is in the planning stages and will become a reality when the planned new facility is built. This group is supported by the three Neighborhood Associations within Greater Seminole Heights and includes volunteers from Southeast Seminole Heights Civic Association, South Seminole Heights Civic Association, as well as Old Seminole Heights Neighborhood Association. The meetings are monthly, open to everyone, and posted on the calendar of events. The contact person is Pat Benjamin, President, Friends of the Seminole Heights Library. (pcbmex@verizon.net)
