Home Tour Hosts Needed!

Inviting neighbors into my home during the 2022 Home Tour was one of the most valuable experiences I've ever had, and it's time again that we're looking for you to volunteer your home for next year's home tour—which, unlike in previous years, will be held on Sunday, February 15 .

Feel like your home isn't fancy or remarkable! You're wrong! Some of the most-loved homes from tours in the past were ones that most reflected being lived in .

We'd love to have you share your home with your neighbors. Email the home tour committee to nominate your home (or someone else's that doesn't get this email!)

Use the same link if you're unable to host but want to contribute in another way as a volunteer — February will be here before we know it!

Quarterly General Membership Meeting

Put it on your calendar now: our next general membership meeting is on October 28th. We'll be holding our annual election of members to our board of trustees & talking about what's next with our murals.

The location is still TBD but you'll get plenty of notice ahead of time—as always, you can check and subscribe to our calendar for updates .

City Budget & Transit Updates

Tampa City Council has once again secured funding for making HART Route 1 even more useful for Seminole Heights residents, as starting this coming January frequency will be substantially increased on evenings and weekends, making it the perfect way to get downtown, to Water Street, or to Ybor City — and back!

Not only will the current 15-minute frequency continue on weekdays 6am to 6pm, the frequency is increased to 20 minutes on weekdays 6-9pm and on weekends 6am-9pm.

The route will no longer be free, but will remain at its current $2.00 fare (with a daily max of $4.00) — all buses can now accept fares via credit card, Apple Pay, and so on.

The Route 1 pilot project has been an incredible success — more people now ride HART Route 1 than the TECO Streetcar — and we look forward to another year of it being such a terrific resource for everyone from USF to downtown.

This Month In OSHNA History

It's your editor (Tim Burke)'s birthday today, so here's a moment in OSHNA history from 85 years ago today, when our neighborhood American Legion post announced it would build its new clubhouse:

The original location at the northeast corner of Sligh & Florida was destroyed by fire, & the current building across the street soon replaced it. The original location, however, lives on in the name of the city park and ballfield behind where American Legion Post 111 once stood.

American Legion Post 111 remains open to the public & is home to one of our favorite —and most affordable — lounges around.

New OSHNA Merch!

Support the Seminole Heights Elementary PTA and show off your neighborhood pride with a new selection of branded merchandise! There's lots of cool stuff to buy with both our logo and the school's, so check it out.

Porch Party Hosts Needed!

Hosting the monthly OSHNA Porch Party is one of the easiest and most fun ways to get involved in the neighborhood. With the Neighborhood Involvement Committee volunteers handling most of the arrangements, they aren't much work, either! To sign up to host, check out the link to the form in the button below.
