Thank you, Cinda

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Cinda Hitchcock, who left us on May 15, 2025, at the age of 72. A vibrant, passionate, and devoted individual, Cinda leaves behind a lasting legacy of service, friendship, and unwavering love for her community.

Born on November 22, 1952, Cinda dedicated much of her life to improving her neighborhood and enriching the lives of those around her. She was a proud and active member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, where she served with distinction as Vice Commander of Flotilla 79. Her commitment and kindness were ever-present—always ready to offer a helping hand or a kind word to those in need.

Cinda’s love for her community was especially evident in her work with the Friends of the Seminole Heights Library, where she served as a board member. She tirelessly organized beloved local events such as Summerfest and the Annual Garden Tour. Her creativity and enthusiasm brought joy to countless neighbors and visitors alike.

As a longtime member of the Old Seminole Heights Neighborhood Association, Cinda was named Volunteer of the Year in 2016—a well-deserved honor reflecting her dedicated service on the Home Tour Committee and her involvement with the Green Space Committee. She was a cornerstone of the neighborhood—someone who didn’t just reside in Seminole Heights, but truly lived for it.

Cinda was more than a volunteer. She was a loyal friend, a compassionate neighbor, and a tireless advocate for community, nature, and meaningful connection. Her presence brought warmth and light to all who knew her.

She will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the gardens she nurtured, the events she helped bring to life, and the many lives she touched.

A celebration of Cinda’s life will be held on June 8th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Common Dialect Beerworks , located at 5023 N Florida Avenue. Preferred parking is available just north of the building. The venue offers a variety of beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages. An on-site BBQ food truck will be present, with additional dining options available at the Independent across the street.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Cinda’s memory to the Friends of the Seminole Heights Library or the Old Seminole Heights Neighborhood Association —two organizations that held a special place in her heart.
