CVS is Denied but not Out

City Council met today at 10:30am and finished the vote to deny the zoning changes for CVS.  OSHNA's representative at that meeting was Ann McDonald.  She reports:

 

Lake Roberta's Grant Results

 Lake Roberta's recent acquisition of a Tampa Bay Estuary Grant was neither luck nor happenstance.  Of 40 applicants, Lake Roberta was one of 25 recipients, and one of the most notable.  Along with the installation of the 'Water Goat', the Tampa Bay Estuary Grant will help fund the help of  a 'Lake Doctor', who will help treat the lake for invasive species, such as duck weed, torpedo grass and algae for the next year.  Special thanks should be extended to key members of the committee for their continue

CVS - Motion to Deny

CVS went before City Council late Thursday evening to request a zoning change from commercial intensive to planned development in preparation for locating their store at Sligh and Nebraska Ave.  A number of residents showed up to the meeting, as did the presidents of all three neighborhood associations and the business guild. 

 

City Staff recommended against approval.

 

CVS Update

CVS went before City Council last night.  Council was presented a report.  Click here to read the report.  The City found the request inconsistent with several sections of the comprehensive plan and with the goals of the neighborhood (Form Based Zoning).

 

CVS has also published the landscaping plan for their proposed store on Sligh and Nebraska.  Click here to view the plan. 

 

Lake Roberta Committee in the news!

The Save Lake Roberta committee was in the news and on television this week.  Click here for the Bay News 9 video.

 

Each stage of the plan is managed by the committee.  It works by OSHNA paying for things like the water goat and then submitting them back for reimbursement through the grant.
