About

Welcome to Old Seminole Heights!

We are a tree-shaded gem nestled in the heart of Tampa, providing tranquil relief from the heavily-trafficked thoroughfares that border us. Those stately old bungalows that you see being maintained and restored date back to the early 1900s. Some of these homes are included in the United States National Register and the local Tampa Historic District, ensuring their preservation for generations to come. While we take great pride in our history, our present and future are also of paramount importance to us. Our neighborhood continues to grow and attract new residents of all ages and diverse cultural backgrounds. However, we have strived to retain a warm, friendly, caring atmosphere not seen in many communities today. We have a serious commitment to our excellent schools and to the churches of varied denominations which are vitally involved in the lives and activities of our residents.

How large is Old Seminole Heights?

It encompasses all of the property from the intersection of Hillsborough Ave and the Hillsborough River, north and then east on the river around the bend at Rogers Park Golf Course and then south to just north of Flora Street, then west to 30th Street, south to Sligh Avenue, west to 22nd Street, south to Hillsborough Avenue, west to Interstate 275, south to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, west to Florida Avenue, north to Hillsborough Avenue, and then west to the Hillsborough River. It is a large chunk of real estate!

How do you maintain a neighborhood feeling in such a large area?

We accomplish it with a strong, pro-active neighborhood association. The Old Seminole Heights Neighborhood Association (OSHNA) is the cohesive force within our boundaries and is our collective voice on a myriad of issues affecting our community. As the largest neighborhood association in the city at over 500 members, we have the attention and respect of our government officials.

Quarterly general membership meetings

OSHNA holds quarterly general membership meetings on the fourth Tuesday of every third month (January, April, July, and October) in a “town hall” format, during which all residents can voice suggestions, questions, and concerns. The nine-member board, comprised of four officers and five trustees, has monthly meetings on the third Tuesday of every month, and these are open to anyone wishing to attend. See our neighborhood calendar for dates and times.
